Q: Why use Tyrefill? | A: To reduce your total operating costs by increasing your productivity, reduce downtime, eliminate schedule disruptions, increase vehicle safety and eliminate the necessity for back up equipment. |
Q: Are tyres filled with Tyrefill economical? | A: Yes. Tyres filled with Tyrefill can save a great deal of money for operations where frequent flat tyres are a problem. Tyrefill eliminates costs related to flat tyres such as repairs, replacement, vehicle downtime, unproductive labour, production disruptions and overtime needed to complete scheduled work. Total cost savings can be significant for an operation plagued with frequent flat tyres. |
Q: Where is Tyrefill used? | A: Scrap yards, steel mills, landfills, docks, factories, timber yards, freight docks, quarries, farms, oil refineries, asphalt spreaders, airports, underground mines, sand and gravel pits, foundries, general construction, masonry projects, street cleaners, people movers, access plat-forms, man-lifts, military applications, airbridges, mine clearing or anywhere where operations are disrupted due to tyre failure. Army and Air force vehicles and helicopter tyres filled with Tyrefill can withstand severe penetration from bullets and shrapnel, but will never deflate or puncture. In general, the tougher the tyre application, the greater the need for Tyrefill. |
Q: What improvements can be expected with Tyrefilled Tyres compared to solid rubber tyres? | A: A softer ride, adding to operator comfort, greater traction because of a larger footprint, equipment not limited to 25 kph, less equipment damage due to reduced vibration and improved energy conservation. |
Q: Do tyre dimensions change when a tyre is filled with Tyrefill? | A: No. Tyre dimensions do not change as a result of filling with Tyrefill. No vehicle modification is necessary. |
Q: Can the internal pressure change in a tyre filled with Tyrefill? | A: No. Tyres are filled to between 80 and 90% of the tyre manufacturer's recommended pressure or site operating pressure. The pressure remains constant for the life of the tyre, eliminating repetitive pressure checks. |
Q: Which tyre brands can be filled with Tyrefill? | A: Any pneumatic tyre as long as the casing is sound and capable of performing to the tyre manufacturer's specification. |
Q: Can a tyre filled with Tyrefill be recapped/retreaded? | A: Yes. If a tyre casing is in good condition, most pre-cure recapping processes can recap it. |
Q: Will Tyrefill exude if the tyre is cut or punctured? | A: No. Tyrefill, when cured, becomes a soft, resilient rubber material that will not exude from a cut or puncture. However, if a large cut (usually greater than 15cm of exposed Tyrefill) occurs during operation, a minimal degree of flaking may occur. The tyre should be repaired at the cut area as soon as possible. |
Q: Can tyres filled with Tyrefill and air inflated tyres be used on the same vehicle? | A: Yes. But it would be defeating the purpose. Tyrefill is designed specifically for those operations which require a pneumatic ride and protection from flats. |
Q: Is the added weight of Tyrefill in relation to air a problem? | A: No. It is, in fact, an advantage for use in loaders, tractors and other equipment where there is a need for extra ballast weight, added drawbar pull and increased stability. Tyrefill runs cooler than foam. Tyrefill adds the same weight as water. |
Q: How do tyres filled with Tyrefill compare with foam filled tyres? | A: Tyrefill, a void free urethane elastomer, has better heat dissipation than foam. Foam, due to the captive dispersed air cells, is a natural insulator, preventing adequate heat dissipation. Tyrefill runs cooler than foam. |
Q: How does power loss of pneumatics, solids and foam compare to tyres filled with Tyrefill | A: Extensive tests show that tyres filled with Tyrefill have less than half the power loss of solid and foam tyres and are equal to pneumatic tyres. In other words, in-plant battery and fuel-operated vehicles require less energy to do the same amount of work. |
Q: Can Tyrefill be used in extreme weather conditions? | A: Yes. Tyres filled with Tyrefill perform well over a wide ambient temperature range from - 40ºC to +40ºC. |
Q: Can the wheel or rim from a tyre filled with Tyrefill be re-used? | A: Yes. When the casing is completely worn out, cut, or ruptured to a degree that it cannot be re-capped, the wheel or rim can be removed and re-used, but it is wise to monitor wear rate once a tyre has been filled with Tyrefill in order to effect re-capping as many times as the integrity of the casing will permit. |
